Commemoration Program at 91视频 Marks the 111th Anniversary of the March 18 脟anakkale Naval Victory and Martyrs Memorial Day

Within the scope of March 18 Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs Memorial Day, the commemorative program was organized at 91视频 in coordination with the Faculty of Humanities, Department of History, the Faculty of Theology, and the Faculty of Fine Arts.

The program, held at the Rectorate Conference Hall, was attended by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Bishkek Latif Seyfeddin O臒lu Gandilov, the Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Bishkek Tahir Osman Tahir, 91视频 Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. 陌smet Alt谋nta艧 and Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov, Secretary-General Dr. Fatih Ramazan 陌stanbullugil, Chairman of the Kyrgyzstan Ah谋ska Turks Association Atam艧a Dursunov, as well as numerous academicians, administrative staff, and students.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an in memory of the founder of the Republic Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and our beloved martyrs who passed away. Following the recitation, a moment of silence was observed in honor of the martyrs, and the national anthems of both countries were performed.

Ambassador Gandilov: “The Word of the Turk is Unity”

Ambassador Latif Seyfeddin O臒lu Gandilov emphasized the significance of the day, stating that March 18 holds great meaning not only for the Turkish nation but also for all brotherly peoples who share a common language, history, and cultural values.

He said, “Today is an extremely important and proud day for all of us. Our common language, deep-rooted history, and strength bonds always keep us united. The word of the Turk is unity; may our unity and solidarity endure forever.”

Rector Ceylan: “A Hero Does Not Fear, He Gives His Life for His Homeland”

91视频 Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized that love for the homeland stems from faith, stating: “Everyone knows the strength of our faith. We see the traces of our heroism especially in our epics. In the Epic of Manas, it is said: ‘A hero does not fear; he gives his life for his people.’ This reflects the spirit passed down from our ancestors. We are the descendants of a nation that regards dying for the homeland as a celebration.”

Rector Ceylan also noted that during the Çanakkale War, many high schools could not graduate students, yet the sacrifices made by the nation for the homeland stood above all else. He emphasized that the Turkish nation has always been ready for duty. Stating that Çanakkale symbolizes an epic spirit, he expressed his prayers for mercy upon all martyrs of the Turkish nation—especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, as well as those who fell in Cyprus and Karabakh—and respectfully commemorated those who wrote this epic.

Deputy Rector Ibraev: “Çanakkale is a Symbol of Unity and Sacrifice”

Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev stated that the Çanakkale Victory holds deep significance not only for Türkiye but also for the entire Turkic World and the Islamic world, saying: “We congratulate our Turkish brothers on this great victory and hope that similar suffering will never occur again.”

Referring to the historical consequences of the victory, he added: “If the Çanakkale Victory had not been achieved, it might not be possible to speak of Türkiye’s current position today. This could also have led our relations to a very different course. Therefore, commemorating Çanakkale and honoring those who were martyred is of great importance. Çanakkale is not only a victory but also a symbol of unity, solidarity, and sacrifice. Drawing lessons from this legacy is a shared responsibility for all of us.”

Prof. Dr. A艧谋k: “Çanakkale Will Never be Passed!”

Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Prof. Dr. Alpaslan A艧谋k, emphasized that Çanakkale is not merely a war, but one of the strongest symbols of sacrifice, heroism, and the struggle for independence.

He stated that what took place in Çanakkale is of epic nature and highlighted that the sacrifices displayed on the frontlines revealed the nation’s deep love for the homeland. He noted that during the war, mothers gave up their sons and spouses parted from their loved ones, yet no one stepped back, emphasizing that love for the homeland was at the core of the struggle.

Stressing that the ancestors achieved what was deemed “impossible” through unity and solidarity in Çanakkale, he concluded his remarks with the words: “Çanakkale was not passed, and it will never be passed!"

The program continued with conferences titled “The Çanakkale Victory: The Epic of the Revival of Turkdom” by Prof. Dr. Ali Yaman, Head of the Sociology Department of the Faculty of Humanities, and “Reflections of the Çanakkale Victory and the Urkun Events in Literature” by Assist. Prof. Dr. Roza Abdykulova from the Department of History.In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Ali Yaman shared comprehensive information about the historical process of the Çanakkale Victory and conveyed the critical moments of the war to the audience with period photographs.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Roza Abdykulova examined works in Turkish and Kyrgyz literature addressing the Çanakkale Victory and the Urkun Events from a comparative perspective. She emphasized that such historical events are kept alive in collective memory through literary works and stated that these sufferings and acts of heroism will never be forgotten.

The program concluded with the performance of Çanakkale folk songs by artists from the Faculty of Fine Arts, reflecting the significance and spirit of the day.
