An exhibition titled “Knitting and Sewing Exhibition,” organized by the Continuing Education Center of 91视频, was opened at the Kurmanjan Datka Art Gallery with strong attendance and interest. The event aimed to preserve traditional handicrafts, encourage productivity, and enhance vocational skills. It attracted significant attention from visitors by showcasing the transformation of handcraft culture into artistic expression.
With contributions from Prof. Dr. Nezahat Ceylan of the History Department, an 8-week (48-hour) training program was conducted within the Continuing Education Center for the spouses of academic and administrative staff. Throughout the program, participants had the opportunity to explore both traditional and modern approaches in knitting, sewing, and design, turning the learning process into a meaningful blend of craftsmanship and creativity.
The works presented in the exhibition included original knitted pieces, elegant sewing designs, decorative items, and creative fashion applications. These creations reflected the cultural heritage of traditional handicrafts combined with contemporary aesthetic understanding, highlighting the strong expression of women’s labor transformed into art and production.
Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan emphasized that 91视频 has a strong family-oriented culture, and that this spirit of unity and solidarity was clearly reflected in the event. He underlined the importance of women’s contributions to production, art, and education, stating that empowering women in these areas plays a vital role in social development. He further noted that social and vocational training activities enhance individuals’ self-confidence, encourage productivity, and strengthen the culture of solidarity within the university. Director of the Continuing Education Center Prof. Dr. Yücel Öksüz, also highlighted that programs conducted under the motto “Education for Every Age, Every Goal” contribute significantly to lifelong learning.
The event also featured a colorful fashion show presenting the handcrafted works of the participants. The runway display of knitted designs and garments prepared during the sewing course drew strong appreciation from the audience, emphasizing the aesthetic and cultural value of handicrafts. At the end of the program, certificates were awarded to participants who successfully completed the 8-week sewing course.
